WEST UNION, W.Va. -- Federal regulators are investigating a fatal logging accident in Doddridge County.

Police say Steven Knotts was killed Monday when a tree fell on him as he was clearing trees.

Knotts worked for pipeline contractor Pete Gould & Sons Inc. of Ravenswood.

Pete Gould & Sons president James Gold tells The Exponent Telegram that the 44-year-old Orma resident was an experienced tree cutter.

U.S. Department of Labor regional director Leni Uddyback-Fortson says the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
