The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra announces 2013-2014 season

The series closes on May 2 and 3, 2014 with Orff's "Carmina Burana" with Janet Brown, soprano, Gerald Gray, tenor, Paul Kreider, baritone, the West Virginia Symphony Chorus and the West Virginia University Chorus. The concert also features Jackfert's "On the Shores of Qingdao" and Modarelli's "River Saga".

The WVSO and The Charleston Ballet Company will present "The Nutcracker" on Dec. 13 and 14.

The ZMM Architects & Engineers Pops Series opens with the WVSO's annual tradition, "Home for the Holidays'"on Dec. 6 and 7. "Satisfaction: The International Rolling Stones Show" with the orchestra is featured Feb. 7 and 8, 2014. On March 14 and 15, 2014, WVSO brings audiences "The John Williams Experience" honoring the world's greatest movie composer with music from "Star Wars," "Indiana Jones" and "E.T." 

The series closes on April 11 and 12, 2014 with "Wicked Divas" bringing the best of Broadway to Charleston with selections from "Wicked," "Gypsy," "Ragtime," "Titanic," and opera selections from George Bizet's "Carmen."

The 2013-2014 Montclaire String Quartet Series returns to the University of Charleston's Erma Byrd Gallery for a third year. Performances for the season are: "Vienna Nights" on Oct. 6, 2013; "Miniatures Revisited" on Nov. 24, 2013; "New England Patriots" on Feb. 2, 2014 and "Lucky Seven" on March 23, 2014.  All MSQ performances are on Sundays at p.m.

The 2013-2014 Grand Series subscriptions range in price from $170 to $465. Capitol Conference Center Symphonic Series subscriptions range from $112 to $327; ZMM Pops Series subscriptions from $82 to $222; City National Bank Family Discovery Series $25 Adults -- $14 Students and Children and Montclaire String Quartet Series from $40 Adults and $20 for Students and Children. Tickets for The Nutcracker range in price from $12 for children to $54 for adults. Symphony Starter Packs also are available and range from $65 to $174.
