CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Roane County woman accused of animal cruelty pleaded guilty on Thursday after authorities found dead and dying horses on her farm in January.

Tory Shadowwolf Morgan, 41, of Reedy, pleaded guilty in Roane County Circuit Court to 10 counts of animal cruelty.

She was sentenced to 120 days in jail, but Roane County prosecutors said she would instead spend 75 days on supervised release and then be placed on one year of probation.

Morgan was charged with multiple misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty after authorities learned of 20 dead and 20 emaciated horses on her farm on Jan. 17.

Morgan agreed to give up custody of the 20 emaciated horses and was ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution to the Roane County deputy who cared for them while she awaited trial. She was also ordered to pay $1,650 in court fees.
