20th Century Images: 'Good old summertime, 1925'
Summer time in Charleston in the old days used to be almost intolerable but some relief could be had by a cool dip in the Kanawha River! This fine color-tinted picture illustrates just how enjoyable the old river could be. Lick Branch is about even with the gas company on MacCorkle Avenue Southside. This picture brings back fond memories of my Uncle Raymond "Buzz" Andre who loved the river but passed away in 1928 at the young age of 38. Photo from Richard Andre
