Carbide Oldtimers

The Oldtimers Club meets for dinner and a program on the third Tuesday of each month at the Columbia Gas Building. Socializing is 5:30 p.m. and the dinner follows at 6 p.m. Speakers for the March 19 program will be George Hohmann, recently retired business editor for the Charleston Daily Mail. Hohmann will speak on "Takes from the business beat front lines." Dinner, prepared by the Bridge Road Bistro Cafe, is $13 per person and offers a choice of corned beef and cabbage or Shepherd's Pie. Night hike

Kanawha Trail Club: will sponsor a night hike at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on Kanawha State Forest's Shrewsbury Road/CCC Snipe Trail. Meet at the swimming pool area. The hike is approximately 2 1/2 miles on a moderate trail with hills. Bring a light source.

Ladies Tea

Putnam County Parks will sponsor a Ladies Tea as part of its Civil War Weekend at 3 p.m. March 23 in the Valley Park Community Center at Valley Park, Hurricane. All ladies 8 years of age and above are invited to participate. You may bring your favorite teacup if you wish. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the park office or by calling 304-562-0518, ext. 10. Tickets are limited.

Al-Anon/Alateen

Al-Anon offers meetings for friends and family of alcoholics. Alateen meetings are for teens who are dealing with the alcoholism and/or drug addiction of a family member or friend. Al-Anon meetings will take place at 8 p.m. Tuesdays, St. John's Episcopal Church, 1105 Quarrier St.; noon Wednesdays at the Kanawha County Day Report Center, 900 Christopher St.; and 7 p.m. Thursdays, Edgewood area, St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 819 Somerset Dr. Alateen meets at 7 p.m. Thursdays in the Edgewood area at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 819 Somerset Drive; and at 7 p.m. Sundays, the Legacy Study Group meets at First Presbyterian Church, 508 Second Ave., South Charleston.
