State to use settlement funds for low-income utility aid
Advertiser

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Low-income residents in West Virginia will benefit from a settlement with Constellation Energy Commodities Group.

The Public Service Commission said Monday that the state's share of the settlement will help low-income residents pay electricity bills.

The money has been earmarked for the Dollar Energy Fund, Inc. The fund will distribute the money through its West Virginia Utility Assistance Program.

West Virginia received nearly $250,000 from the settlement between Constellation and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission over the company's alleged manipulation of the wholesale energy market.
