BEECH BOTTOM, W.Va. -- An Oklahoma pipeline company is the first tenant at a former steel plant property in West Virginia's Northern Panhandle.

Media outlets report that Tulsa-based Sheehan Pipeline plans build a pipeline from western Pennsylvania to Ohio. The company will use the former Wheeling Corrugating property in Beech Bottom as a base for its operations.

Sheehan is expected to hire 400 to 500 workers. At least half of the workers will be hired locally.

The company is leasing the property for about eight months. Jim Lovell with Sheehan says the property will be ready for another tenant when it leaves.

The Business Development Corp. of the Northern Panhandle acquired the property last November. Executive director Pat Ford says Sheehan's lease indicates that the Northern Panhandle's economic base is diversifying.
