MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- Police investigating the 2012 slayings of a Berkeley County man and his 9-year-old son are turning to the public for help.

West Virginia State Police Trooper C.S. Maynard says he believes someone in the community has information about the deaths of 56-year-old David C. Hutlzer and his son, James.

Police initially believed Hutzler killed his son, set their mobile home on fire and then killed himself. Their bodies were found in the home's master bedroom on Jan. 6, 2012.

The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown, Md., reports that autopsies indicated both had been shot in the head.
