The West Virginia State Historic Preservation has scheduled 12 meetings across the state to receive public comments. The first meeting is set for Thursday in Charleston.
Susan Pierce, deputy state historic preservation officer, says officials want to hear what the successes have been as well as the challenges so that they can develop new goals and objectives for the next five years.
Input will be used to draft a new comprehensive plan that will be finalized by June 2014.
The most recent statewide historic preservation comprehensive plan, "The Past Matters Today" was published in 2009. Every five years the plan is reviewed, revised, and updated as needed.
