CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin is recognizing March as Nutrition Month in West Virginia.

News outlets said Tomblin made the proclamation Monday afternoon at a Governor's Mansion reception that featured members of the West Virginia Dietetic Association.

Health experts say eating a well-balanced diet and cutting back on sugar and salt will make a big difference in overall health.

March also is National Nutrition Month. It started in 1980 and was created by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
