Weirton man pleads guilty to copper sale
Advertiser

WHEELING, W.Va. -- A Weirton man faces up to 10 years in prison for selling more than three tons of copper stolen.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says Danny Lee Cook, 48, knew the copper was stolen when he obtained it. He took the copper to Canonsburg, Pa., and sold it to a scrap metal dealer.

The copper had been taken from a Mon Power substation in New Cumberland.

Cook pleaded guilty last week in federal court in Wheeling to selling stolen goods transported interstate.

He also faces a $250,000 fine when sentenced.
