South Charleston Housing Authority Board of Commissioners will have its regular meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the administrative offices located at 520 Goshorn St., South Charleston.
Dinner with President Lincoln
Putnam County Parks and Recreation will sponsor an evening with President Lincoln from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the commons of Putnam County at Valley Park, Hurricane. The event is part of the Civil War weekend. Tickets are $25 for couples, $15 for adults, and children 8 and under eat free. For tickets, call the park office at 304-562-0518, ext. 10.
Winfield Lions Club
Winfield Lions Club will hold its annual Easter egg hunt beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the park, located at the county courthouse complex behind the judicial building. This is a new location. The hunt is open to children under age 11 in the Lions Club service areas of Winfield and Eleanor. Prizes will be awarded to "lucky egg" finders in three age groups.
Applebee's of Southridge will have a pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday to benefit Bridgeview Elementary PTO. The cost is $5 per person.
The West Virginia University Extension and Restore will offer a gardening series titled Planning the Vegetable Garden for Year Round Harvests from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the John L. Dickinson Family Homeowner Education and Community Center, 815 Court St. The workshop will be presented by John Porter, WVU extension agent. The 18th Annual Greenbrier County Early Childhood Conference, Frontline Advocate Safe and Sound, will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 5 at First Baptist Church in Fairlea. Guest speaker will be Jim Hollor, retired chief of police of Liberty Township, Pa. The conference will provide five hours of STARS-approved credit for child care providers and CEUs for social work and nursing. Cost is $35. Registration deadline is Friday.
