Beech Fork State Park seeking volunteers for cleanup

BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. -- West Virginia is looking for volunteers to help with the annual Spring Clean-Up Weekend at Beech Fork State Park near Barboursville.

The event takes place April 6 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Assistant Superintendent Dillard Price said other state agencies help the parks, but it's the volunteers who donate a day of their time who really make a difference.

Price said the cleanup is a great experience for families and children.

More than 50 tons of trash and tires have been removed during the past four cleanup events. The park encompasses more than 3,100 acres.

Volunteers must pre-register. They should wear boots and work clothing.
