Along I-77, all hill breaks loose
PRINCETON, W.Va. -- Division of Highways crews worked to stabilize a hillside along Interstate 77 in Mercer County after a massive rockslide last week.
Crews used cranes to push loose hanging rock down the slope to prevent further sliding, DOH spokesman Brent Walker said Tuesday.
The northbound lanes between Princeton and Bluefield are closed, but DOH hopes to have the lanes open for the Easter weekend. Walker said bad weather has prevented crews from working around the clock.
