ST. ALBANS, W.Va. -- St. Albans Community Food Pantry, located at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, will reopen April 2 after being temporarily closed during reorganization.
The pantry will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Walk-in reservations may be made during those times with a pantry volunteer at Christ's Kitchen.
Reservations will be taken from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays for St. Albans residents to receive food to be distributed the following day. Call 304-932-9406.
St. Albans Ministerial Association and St. Mark's Episcopal Church are partnering to provide emergency assistance to St. Albans residents previously handled by Share & Care. It will now be on the coordinated ministries under the umbrella of St. Mark's Jubilee Center: St. Albans Food Pantry, Christ's Kitchen and the Emergency Assistance. Streamlining these ministries will improve the services offered to neighbors in need.
St. Albans Ministerial Association and St. Mark's Church are preparing guidelines for distributing Emergency Assistance. Requests for Emergency Assistance may be made by calling the Food Pantry number Mondays and Wednesdays, at the same times, or by coming to Christ's Kitchen. While Christ's Kitchen is a central location to meet clients, they do not distribute Emergency Assistance funds.
Money formerly given to Care & Share for Emergency Assistance may now be made payable to St. Mark's Episcopal Church and designated "Jubilee Fund: Emergency Assistance." Donors must indicate "Emergency Assistance." The Jubilee Fund operates the Food Pantry and Christ's Kitchen. Donations may also be made to support those ministries.
Christ's Kitchen serves lunch five days a week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. A continental breakfast is also available when doors open at 8:30 a.m.For information and to learn how to become involved and volunteer, contact St. Mark's Church at 304-722-4284.
