Play benefits Sojourner's

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Charleston Stage Company will share proceeds from its next production with the YWCA Sojourner's Shelter for Homeless Women and Families.

Also, a special fundraiser for CSC and Sojourner's will take place on the last night of "Love, Loss and What I Wore," a play by Nora and Delia Ephron.

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. April 4-6 and 11-13 at the WVSU Capitol Center Theater, 123 Summers St. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors. Tickets are $25 for the April 13 show and reception. Call the box office at 304-343-5272 or visit charlestonstagecompany.com.

"Love, Loss and What I Wore" is about the world's most important topics -- unfortunate prom dresses, disorganized purses and the existential crisis that comes from not having anything to wear. The collection of monologues and ensemble pieces touches on relationships mothers, and even breast cancer and ran for two-and-a-half years at New York's Westside Theater.

Breast cancer event

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Zumba Palooza event is set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 13 at the Charleston Civic Center Coliseum.

All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer program.

The first 250 paid registrations receive a goodie bag. The event includes prize drawings and silent auction.

For registration forms, call 304-347-5850 or visit Electric102.com, any Brickhouse cardio location or Turnpike Chevrolet.

Making Strides and its fundraising events provide the ACS with money to support breast cancer research, provides free wigs at the Charleston office, Reach to Recovery for breast cancer patients, and publishes lifesaving literature on breast cancer prevention, detection and develops a new generation of medicines and clinical trials that help those battling breast cancer.
