DUNBAR, W.Va. -- Dunbar's Shawnee Park will open to the public on May 25.
Aaron Settle, consultant to the Dunbar recreation department, announced the opening date to the City Council at a meeting Monday evening.
"There will be a nominal fee," Settle said.
This fee will go toward the upkeep of the property and to pay employees.
Settle said advertisements for lifeguards and other employees would be released soon.
Settle also has applied for a West Virginia State University Community Service Day, where students from the university will volunteer two to four hours of their time. On April 27, the students will clean local trails and parks, he said.
Also, during the primary election this past Saturday, the city of Dunbar passed their property tax levy.
Also, Dunbar Fire Chief Butch Ellis announced a CPR class would be held at 6 p.m. on April 23 at the fire station on Dunbar Avenue.
