Student summer camp to mark W.Va. sesquicentennial
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Middle school students from across West Virginia will participate in a summer camp commemorating the state's 150th anniversary.
The weeklong West Virginia Ambassadors Camp will take place June 17-21 at the University of Charleston.
The West Virginia Department of Education said students will learn about the state's history. Also planned are classes taught by West Virginia artisans.
Two students from each county will be selected to participate in the camp.
These students will be expected to serve as ambassador when they return home. They will participate in such activities as presentations at school-wide assemblies and classroom events at elementary schools.
