Valley Park (Wave Pool) will feature games and activities for children 12 and younger in the Commons of Putnam County, formerly the Museum in the Community. Batman, Spiderman, Captain America, military, police officers, firefighters and others will be present. Children are encouraged to dress as their favorite super hero or real-life heroes. Tri-State Amateur Radio Association will offer examinations for new or upgraded Amateur Radio "Ham" License from the Federal Communication Commission at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Museum of Radio and Technology, 1640 Florence Ave., Huntington. All examination elements will be offered for all Amateur Radio License classes. A fee of $15 will be charged per test. West Virginia University Extension and Habitat for Humanity ReStore will present a "Growing the 'Perfect' Tomato" workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the John L. Trail club hike
Kanawha Trail Club will sponsor hike Sunday at Coonskin Park. Meet at 1:30 p.m. to carpool from Ohio and Randolph streets. Regroup at the swimming pool. The hike is 3 to 4 miles on an easy to moderate trail.
Walk for Miracles
Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and West Virginia University Children's Hospital will sponsor the Walk for Miracles from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 20 beginning at The Mound in South Charleston and finishing at the Rite Aid Pharmacy, 333 MacCorkle Ave. S.W. The walking 5K route is throughout South Charleston. All proceeds benefit Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and the kids at WVU Children's Hospital. Registration fee is $15.
