State man sentenced for reselling bath salts

WHEELING, W.Va. -- A West Virginia man has been sentenced for reselling bath salts that he bought at a convenience store in Ohio.

Phillip James Hamilton Jr. of Wick will spend a year and a day in prison.

Hamilton had pleaded guilty in October 2012 to conspiracy to distribute synthetic drugs. U.S. Attorney William Ihlenfeld said Wednesday that Hamilton was sentenced last week in U.S. District Court in Wheeling.

At his plea hearing, Hamilton admitted that he bought the synthetic drug at a store in Columbus, Ohio, repackaged them and resold them in Tyler County.

Co-defendant Steven Kloh of Columbus received a two-year sentence last October for his role in bringing the bath salts to Tyler County.

He had pleaded guilty in July 2012 to an aiding and abetting charge.
