Mobile food pantry headed to Lincoln County
WEST HAMLIN, W.Va. -- The Huntington Area Food Bank's mobile food pantry will return to Lincoln County for the fourth time this year.
The mobile pantry will be at Center Point United Baptist Church on W.Va. 3 in West Hamlin on Thursday. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and distribution runs from 10 a.m. until noon.
People who attend the mobile food pantry must provide proof of residency at registration. If residents are picking up food for someone else, they must provide the recipient's proof of residency and a notarized permission slip.
"We're serving over 250 people on average at each Lincoln County mobile pantry event," said Tiffany Tatum, executive director of the food bank. "With so many in need of food here, we will continue to host these mobile events while working to create new food pantries to serve the community in the long-term."
Nearly 6,000 people in Lincoln County do not know where their next meal will come from, according to the food bank
The Huntington Area Food Bank has two local pantries and serves six school food programs in the county. For information about how to help, call 304-523-6029.
