Institute firefighter arrested on sex charges

By Staff reports

INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- An Institute volunteer firefighter was arrested this week and charged with computer sex crimes.

Justin Todd Adkinson, 29, of the St. Albans area, was arrested by Kanawha County sheriff's deputies on Tuesday and charged with using a computer to seduce a minor and transmission of material harmful to a minor, said sheriff's department Cpl. Brian Humphreys.

Humphreys said deputies picked Adkinson up on an arrest warrant issued in St. James City, Florida. Florida authorities issued the warrant earlier this month.

Humphreys said deputies learned of the charges through the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Humphreys was unsure of Adkinson's connection with Florida.

Adkinson was being held without bond Thursday in the South Central Regional Jail to await extradition.
