Trail club hike
Kanawha Trail Club will sponsor a hike at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Long Point in Summersville. Meet at 1:30 p.m. to carpool from Ohio and Randolph streets. The hike is approximately four miles on rolling terrain with a spectacular view of the lake.
Chi Master meeting
Chi Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority will observe founders day at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Phyllis Stinnette. Dinner will be prepared by Janet Durbin. Service project will be plastic bags for Christ Kitchen and newspapers for the animal shelter.
Kanawha County Public Library will sponsor a "Cleaning the Natural Way" program at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday at the Library, 123 Capitol St. Darlene Rose, owner and operator of an all-natural house cleaning service, will speak. Patrons may bring their lunch.
Beta Sigma Phi meeting
Charleston City Council of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority will meet for its annual founders day banquet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Canaan United Methodist Church. Service project this year was for Kristlyn Abbott's medical expenses; her family will receive a check at the banquet.
Kanawha County Schools' Parent Community Resource Center will sponsor a workshop titled "Support for Personalized Learning" at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Kanawha County school board auditorium, 200 Elizabeth St. Learn about the initiative from the West Virginia Board of Education to deliver high-quality, research-based instruction to meet the full range of student needs. History lecture series
The Greenbrier Historical Society will host its spring lecture series beginning 7 p.m. Thursday at the North House, 301 W. Washington St., Lewisburg. Archivist Jim Talbert will lead a discussion about using the Greenbrier Historical Society archives for genealogical and historical research, focusing on what new resources can be found in the collection. Other lectures include 7 p.m. May 2 with museum coordinator Toni Ogden discussing "How to Care for Your Artifacts and Antiques," and at 7 p.m. on May 9, AmeriCorps member Kyle Mills will discuss "How to Care for Your Documents and Photographs."
