CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Charleston man died Sunday after losing control of his vehicle on the Oakwood exit ramp, according to police.
Kenneth Hughes, 59, struck a barrier wall before running off the roadway and striking a hillside and a tree off Interstate 64 around 1:45 p.m.
Hughes had to be extricated from the vehicle and transported to CAMC General, where he later passed away due to severe injuries from the crash, according to Charleston Police.
Officers are investigating the cause of the crash, but believe a pre-existing medical condition may have played a factor. Alcohol use has been ruled out as a factor.
