HINTON, W.Va. -- A new bridge is being built over Bluestone Lake to replace a 63-year-old old span.
The state Division of Highways expects the project to be completed in June 2016.
DOH District 9 project engineer Andy Powell tells The Register-Herald that the existing Lilly Bridge cannot safely handle today's heavy trucks.
Powell says trucks exceeding the bridge's posted weight limits continue to cross it.
The new bridge is being constructed upstream of the existing one, which will remain open to traffic.
