Human trafficking forum

Seneca 2 and West Virginia State University Cultural Activities will have a forum on "Human Trafficking: Modern Day Slavery," at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the WVSU Davis Fine Arts Buildings, Della Brown Taylor-Hardman Gallery. Speaker will be Anne Victory.

Humane Association

Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association will hold their monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the animal shelter, 1248 Greenbrier St.

Princess party

Putnam County Parks and Convention & Visitors Bureau is sponsoring a princess party at 10 a.m. Saturday for ages 1-12 in the Commons of Putnam County, located at Valley Park. The party is free and features carriage rides, refreshments and photo opportunities with favorite characters. No reservations are needed. Nursing conference

The West Virginia Center for Nursing will host a "Healthy Nurse Conference" April 29 and 30 at Charleston Embassy Suites. Donna Cardiollo, registered nurse, national speaker, blogger and "Dear Donna" columnist, will be keynote speaker. She will present "Taking Care of You, Inc. -- The Business of Self-Care." Honor society fundraiser

Quaker Steak and Lube will host a "Dine to Donate" event all day Monday to benefit Lambda Zeta Chapter International Honor Society. A percentage of that day's sales will be donated back to the charity. Organizations are welcome to host a "Dine to Donate" fundraiser at Quaker Steak and Lube, 2931 Mountaineer Blvd. For information, call 304-400-3546.

Garage/yard sale

Whirlwind Storage, in Hurricane, will host a community garage/yard sale to benefit the Children's Home Society of West Virginia May 3 and 4 at 100 Self Storage Drive, Hurricane. Space is available for table rentals. Spaces are $20 for both days. Setup must be complete on May 2. Tables and chairs are available. Children's Home Society and foster parents will sell donated items and have a bake sale. Multiple families will be selling; food, antiques and arts and crafts will be for sale. Summer Fun Academy

Registration is open for St. Francis of Assisi School's Summer Fun Academy taking place from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays June 10-31 for children ages 3-12. The program will emphasize academic enrichment including daily journal writing, reading and math activities, West Virginia history and world geography, in conjunction with the Smart Board and computer lab. Children will explore the arts, including ballet and acrobatics dance and learn new skills, such as cooking and sign language. A child can attend on a weekly basis or on a drop-in basis.
