W.Va.'s wandering water buffalo have new home
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- West Virginia's wandering water buffalo have found a new home.
Sean Cullen bought the mother water buffalo and her calf at an online state auction. The animals are now living on his farm in Mason County.
Cullen tells WCHS-TV that he didn't want the water buffaloes to be sold to a facility where they would be killed for their meat or hunted.
Residents reported seeing the mother and her calf in the Evans area of Jackson County for several months before they were captured in February. They were given a temporary home at the Department of Agriculture's farm in Mason County before Cullen bought them.
He says he plans to keep them as pets.
