WVU offers red-white-blue cords to veteran grads
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- West Virginia University is offering graduating students who are veterans red-white-and-blue cords to wear with their gowns.
Eighty-one veterans are graduating this year. WVU's graduation weekend is set for May 18-19.
WVU Interim veteran's advocate Jerry McCarthy tells The Dominion Post that the idea for the special cords came from some nursing students.
The cords come with a note from President Jim Clements thanking veterans and their families for their sacrifices and for choosing WVU.
McCarthy says veterans can obtain the cords from his office in the Mountainlair.
