Weekend sobriety checkpoints announced

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Two area sobriety checkpoints have been scheduled for this weekend.

The South Charleston Detachment of the West Virginia State Police and the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department will conduct the first, which will begin at 8 p.m. Friday and continue through 2 a.m. Saturday, on U.S. 60 in front of Value City Department Store in Jefferson.

The West Virginia State Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint from 8 p.m. Saturday through 2 a.m. Sunday on W.Va. 152 near the intersection of Eighth Street Road, in Lavalette, Wayne County. An alternate checkpoint site will be at U.S. 60 and Seventh Street, in Kenova.
