Officers kill black bear on loose in Parkersburg
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. -- A black bear on the loose in Parkersburg has been killed by law enforcement officers.
Media outlets report that officers fatally shot the male bear around 12:30 a.m. today, about 45 minutes after it was sighted.
Parkersburg Police Chief Joe Martin says officials were concerned about public safety.
The bear weighed about 250 pounds to 300 pounds.
