Distemper outbreak closes Logan County pound
LOGAN, W.Va. -- A distemper outbreak has closed the Logan County animal shelter.
Media outlets report that a quarantine was imposed after three cases of distemper were confirmed. The shelter won't accept or adopt animals until further notice.
Logan County Humane Officer Jerry Browning says one dog was euthanized due to the illness.
Employees are disinfecting the shelter but Browning says the quarantine could remain in effect for several weeks.
