CLARKSBURG, W.Va. -- Clarksburg's new outdoor water park has been renamed to avoid infringing on a Pennsylvania attraction's trademark.
The Splash Lagoon is now the City Parks of Clarksburg Splash Zone.
Superintendent John Cooper tells The Exponent Telegram that the change was prompted by a letter from the owners of Splash Lagoon in Erie, Pa., concerning possible trademark infringement.
Cooper says the Clarksburg Board of Park Commissioners complied with their request to change the name of the city's water park.
The water park at Veterans Memorial Park is scheduled to open May 25.
