Federal prison has 300 jobs in Bruceton Mills
BRUCETON MILLS, W.Va. -- The U.S. Penitentiary at Hazelton is looking to fill 300 new positions, from clerical staff to correctional officers.
Officials have scheduled a job fair for Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Hazelton Training Center in Bruceton Mills. The prison is also looking for case managers and a variety of health-care workers.
More job fairs could be scheduled later, depending on how many people apply over the next few weeks.
The prison recently completed a medium-security addition to hold about 1,000 inmates.
Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., says the newest facility could generate millions of dollars for Preston County and the surrounding area.
He said Thursday it would also help alleviate overcrowding in federal prisons.
