New Hope Baptist Church, 9414 Coal River Road, St. Albans, will have a flea market/ plant and garden sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 11 at the church, located 4 miles from the west side fire department. Local vendors will be featured.
Tyler Mountain Community Festival will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at McKinnon Presbyterian Church, 4278 Washington St. W., Tyler Mountain. Yard sale items and arts and crafts items will be featured. The cost is $1 for hot dogs and more. The Carpenter Ants will play beginning about 10:30 a.m.
West Side Church of Nazarene will have a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the church, 1817 Seventh Ave. Hot dogs and fish sandwiches will also be sold.
Cottontree Community Church will have a Youth Group cookout on May 18. The community is invited to the gathering and worshiping and singing will be held at 5 p.m. Pastor is Billy Meadow.
Sandy Knob Community Church will have a fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the VFW in Pinch. There will be a chicken and dumpling dinner for $8 and includes mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and cookie. A pinto bean dinner is also available for $8 and includes potatoes, kraut 'n wieners, corn bread and cookie of choice. Singers will be featured and include The Hager Family, Quindora Dobbins, Heather Young and Jimmy Marcum. Abundant Life Ministries and Life Community Development will observe Healthy Member Month will guest speakers weekly, Sunday through May 26. Topics include cancer prevention and healthy living for the entire family. Join the Team Abundant Life Walk Club from 6 to 7 p.m. each Thursday for a fitness walk. The walk club will conclude on May 30 with a health fair at the church. Refreshments will be served. Shirts and pedometers will be given to the first 30 who sign up. Ward Church of God is hosting an outdoor benefit gospel sing for the maintenance of Ward Cemetery from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 11. The sing features Brighterside Quartet, Harbor Masters Quartet, Jimmy McKnight, St. Paul's Male Chorus, Labors Quartet, Eyes of Faith and Zamar Ministry. The church is located approximately 20 miles east of Charleston and then 1 mile up Kellys Creek in Cedar Grove. Hot dogs, soft drinks and baked goods will be sold. Bring a lawn chair. Mammoth Advent Christian Church is having a benefit sing and hot dog/bake sale for Pastor Paul Ramsey Sr. who has been diagnosed with leukemia and needs to have a bone marrow transplant. Pastor Ramsey will be in Morgantown for approximately three months. The benefit sing will be 6 p.m. on May 31 at Riverside High School Auditorium, Quincy. The Brighterside Quartet, The Laborers, The Wristons, Donny & Martha Elswick and The Harbor Masters will perform.
