MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- Organizers of an endurance challenge in West Virginia are making plans for a fall event following the death of a competitor last month.
Tough Mudder organizers recently held a conference call with Berkeley County officials about the Mid-Atlantic race scheduled for Oct. 19 and 20 in Glengary.
Berkeley County Administrator Deborah Hammond tells media outlets that officials are concerned about emergency services resources for the event because it's scheduled for the same weekend as the Mountain State Apple Harvest Festival.
Authorities say 28-year-old Avishek Sengupta, of Ellicott City, Md., drowned at the "Walk the Plank'' obstacle during an April 20 Tough Mudder race in Glengary.
A Tough Mudder spokeswoman has said the organization was reviewing protocol for the race, which is designed to test competitors' physical and mental strength.
