Arrest made in West Side stabbing

By Staff reports

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Charleston man is in jail after allegedly stabbing another man on the city's West Side late Tuesday.

James William "Hawk" Martin, 56, of Charleston and Jamie Morris, 36, of Charleston, apparently got into some kind of altercation at 915 1st Ave. at about 11 p.m., said Detective Jarl Taylor of the Charleston Police Department.

During the argument, Martin allegedly stabbed Morris in the side before racing away on a bicycle, Taylor said. He was tracked down a short time later by Charleston police.

Morris was taken to CAMC General Hospital and later released. Martin was charged with malicious wounding. He was in South Central Regional Jail Wednesday in lieu of a $25,000 bail.
