Bike ride rescheduled

The Gran Mercer Metric Charity Bike Ride scheduled for Saturday in Mercer County has been postponed until June 15. Organizers changed the date because of poor road conditions and expected bad weather. The bike ride is a fundraiser for Child Protect of Mercer County Inc. and is planned to begin and end on Concord University's Athens campus. Parks and rec meetings

Kanawha County Parks and Recreation's Finance/Golf Committee will meet at noon Monday at the clubhouse at Coonskin Park. The commission meeting is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, also in the clubhouse's Oak Room. The agenda is available in the park office. For information, call 304-341-8000.

Democrat committee

The Kanawha County Democratic Executive Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the courtroom of Kanawha Circuit Judge Charles King, on the fourth floor of the Judicial Annex. Contact person is County Chairman Norris T. Light at 304-595-1769.

Spirituality programs

West Virginia Institute for Spirituality will continue with its Thomas Merton Institute programs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at 1601 Virginia St. E. For information or reservations, call 304-345-0926.

Kanawha school retirees

The Kanawha County Association of Retired School Employees will have their annual spring banquet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Blessed John XXIII Pastoral Center. Entertainment will be provided by B Ties, a Dixieland jazz group. The menu is grilled chicken, steamed vegetables, hot rolls and cake. The price for the spring event is $15. Capito mobile office

The mobile office of Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., will make a stop from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Ravenswood Multipurpose Senior Building, 511 Washington St., Ravenswood. A representative will be on hand to help the public with any problems they are having with a federal government agency, such as the Social Security Administration, Medicare or the Veterans Administration. In addition, residents can send a message to Capito.
