The First Missionary Baptist Church of Boomer will have its Pastor's Fifth Anniversary and Appreciation service at 3 p.m. Sunday. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Ronald Smith, Pastor of The Temple of Faith in Cross Lanes. Dinner will be served at 1:30 p.m.
First Missionary Baptist Church of Hansford, will celebrate Pastor Henry Gravely's 11th Anniversary at 3 p.m. on Sunday. The Rev. Robert Morton, pastor of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Carbondale will speak. Dinner will be served at 1:30 p.m. All pastors, choirs and congregations are invited to participate.
Loudendale Church of the Nazarene will have a benefit spaghetti dinner and desserts for Jimmy Shaffer and his family beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Shaffer is in the Cancer Center of American in Pittsburgh receiving treatment for stomach cancer. Proceeds will help the family with medical expenses. Donations can also be sent to Loudendale Church of the Nazarene, 708 Cane Fork Road, Loudendale, WV 25314.
The Men's Department at Greater Emmanuel Gospel Tabernacle will have a hot dog sale starting at 10 a.m. today at the church, 1546 Third Ave. A silent auction will be held by the Missionary Department. The Achievers' Class of Fifth Avenue Church of God in South Charleston will open its Clothes Closet from 10 a.m. to noon today at the church. Clothes are free to families and individuals in need. The Lay Academy of First Presbyterian Church of Charleston will meet at 4 p.m. Sunday in the church activities building, Room 201. Dr. Robert G. Newman, Professor of Religion Emeritus, University of Charleston, will speak on his two years living and working in Alaska. Special emphasis will be on Native American Tribes and their religions. Lakeview Christian Church will present a "Living the Dream!" program at 11 a.m. Sunday at the church, 108 Lakeview Drive, Hurricane. The story is about Gene McKnight, who delivers the Evening News at KLFJ, deals with family issues at home and choices they make. His son, Chad, and sick daughter, Kimberly, both seek to live for Jesus, while his wife, Suzie and his son, Scooter live for the things of this world. He is reminded that Jesus is coming soon. As his boss pushes him in the opposite direction, will he choose The Kingdom of God in time?
Pocatalico Community Church will sponsor a hot dog sale and outdoor gospel sing at 11 a.m. today. Proceeds will go to the Cancer relay for Life. Groups include The Tignors, Calvary's Why and Harvest Trio.
The New Calvary Echoes will be singing at 7 p.m. Sunday at Pocatalico Community Church.
Mammoth Advent Christian Church is having a benefit sing and hot dog/bake sale its pastor, Paul Ramsey Sr., who has been diagnosed with leukemia. Pastor Ramsey is in need of a bone morrow transplant and will be in Morgantown for approximately three months. The benefit sing will be at 6 p.m. May 31 at Riverside High School Auditorium, Quincy. The BrighterSide Quartet, The Laborers, The Wristons, Donny & Martha Elswick and The Harbor Masters will perform. Community Restoration and Worship Center, Lincoln Street, Oak Hill, is hosting a gospel music celebration for the installation of a new pastor, Elder Shannon Robinson.
