BECKLEY, W.Va. -- Beckley Water Company is negotiating a buyout of the Cool Ridge-Flat Top Public Service District.
Cool Ridge-Flat Top board member Bill Baldwin says the PSD has financial problems and will soon need major upgrades.
Baldwin tells The Register-Herald that the PSD currently buys water from Beckley Water Company.
The PSD's board voted last month to continue negotiations with the company.
The proposed sale would require approval of the Raleigh, Mercer and Summers county commissions. The PSD has around 1,850 customers in the three counties.
The West Virginia Public Service Commission also would have to approve the sale.
