Body found in Elkview; man identified by authorities
ELKVIEW, W.Va. -- Police, who suspect a potential homicide, have identified the man found in a mobile home in northern Kanawha County on Monday afternoon.
David Lemons, 28, of 7 Darlington Lane in Elkview, was found dead around 1:45 p.m., according to Kanawha County Sheriff's Cpl. Brian Humphreys.
Lemons' death is being treated as a potential homicide, according to Humphreys. Investigators were still at the scene at 9 p.m. Monday.
The man's friend called 911 around 1:45 p.m. and told dispatchers that he had looked through the window of the trailer and seen the body. Deputies arrived and confirmed the man was dead, Humphreys said.
"They have reasons to believe that it's a potential homicide," he said. The state Medical Examiner's office will perform an autopsy to determine cause of death, according to Humphreys.
Lemons lived alone, Humphreys said.
Earlier this month, emergency personnel responded to the mobile home to treat a woman who had overdosed, according to Humphreys.
"She began experiencing the effects of the overdose and stopped at this house because she knew the guy that lived there," he said. "When she got inside the door, she collapsed and they called 911."
