Police arrest man in stolen debit card case
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Police identified a man captured on security cameras using a debit card stolen earlier this month.
Jason Scott Morris, 34, was arrested and charged with fraud with an access device and possession of methamphetamine on Tuesday.
Detectives received a tip that Morris would be at the 7-Eleven on Washington Street East to meet someone, Charleston Police Sgt. Tony Hazelett said in a news release.
Police found Morris meeting a woman, Misti Rival, 31, of Charleston, at the store at 6:30 p.m. Morris and Rival had meth and syringes inside their pockets, Hazelett said. Rival was charged with possession of meth and police issued a court summons.
Detectives had sought Morris after he allegedly stole a debit card from a car on April 13 and later used the card at several Charleston stores. Police were still investigating a woman who was seen with Morris inside the stores, Hazelett said.
Morris is being held in South Central Regional Jail in lieu of a $25,000 cash-only bail.
