Indore man found shot dead in Clay County
HARTLAND, W.Va. -- West Virginia State Police are investigating the Tuesday shooting death of a man in Clay County.
The shooting happened at about 1:30 p.m. near a home in Hartland, a State Police dispatcher said.
State Police spokesman Sgt. Michael Baylous identified the dead man as Clarence Jack Stone, 65, of Indore.
Baylous said Stone was working in a garden near a neighbor's house when a witness reported hearing a gunshot, possibly from a shotgun. Baylous said the witness looked out the window and saw Stone slumped on the ground.
Troopers from the Clay detachment of the State Police, Clay County sheriff's deputies and officers from the Division of Natural Resources are investigating.
