Summersville Lake stocked with rainbow trout

SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. -- About 1,500 pounds of newly stocked rainbow trout are swimming in West Virginia waters.

The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources said it stocked the Summersville Dam tailwater of the Gauley River this week in cooperation with the West Virginia Professional Outfitters Association.

DNR Director Frank Jezioro says the goal of the stocking is to enhance trout fishing opportunities in the Gauley River. Officials said the trout stockings were conducted by helicopter and should provide good fishing in the summer and fall.
