WHEELING, W.Va. - Three properties in Wheeling owned by the Vandalia Heritage Corp. are going on the auction block.
Vandalia already has sold some of its properties in Fairmont. The Wheeling auction is scheduled for June 17.
The organization lost federal funding earmarked by former Rep. Alan Mollohan when he was defeated in the 2010 Democratic primary.
Vandalia president and CEO Laura Kurtz Kuhns tells the Intelligencer and the Wheeling News-Register that the sales will allow the organization to continue its mission of historic preservation and redevelopment in northern West Virginia.
The Wheeling properties are among more than a dozen that Vandalia bought from the Victorian Wheeling Landmarks Foundation in 2008.
Kuhns says the organization's goal is to sell the properties to a developer that has the resources to properly rehabilitate them.
