Huntington council OKs neighborhood redevelopment
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- An aging public housing complex in Huntington will be demolished to make way for commercial development.
Razing the Northcott Court complex is part of a plan to redevelop the city's Fairfield West neighborhood.
The plan also includes construction of two senior townhouse building and single-family homes in the neighborhood.
Media outlets report that City Council approved the plan Monday.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development also must approve demolishing the 129-unit housing complex. Northcott Court was built in the 1940s.
