Blennerhassett Island shoreline project complete
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. -- A project to stabilize the shoreline on Blennerhassett Island is complete.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says the $2 million project on the Ohio River island near Parkersburg involved placing nearly 32,000 tons of stone to help minimize erosion around a Corridor D bridge pier.
The project took eight months to complete. The Federal Highways Administration provided $1.6 million for the project and the state Division of Highways chipped in $400,000.
