CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Rick Hicks has been selected as superintendent of Preston County schools.
The state Board of Education approved Hicks' appointment Thursday. He will replace Larry Parsons, who is retiring.

Hicks serves as executive director for the West Virginia Association of School Administrators. He has spent 33 years as a teacher, guidance counselor and in school administration.State school board vice president Gayle Manchin said Hicks was selected because of his experience in rural settings and in managing a system with limited funds.
