Teen arrested in shooting near Civic Center, Mall
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Charleston teen wanted in connection to a shooting downtown Monday turned himself in to police.
Shaquille Dominique Burton, 19, was charged with wanton endangerment and malicious wounding on Thursday.
Police said they suspect Burton and as many as four others were involved in a shooting on Clendenin Street, between the Charleston Civic Center and the Charleston Town Center.
Terrance Bonner, 18, of Charleston and a female companion were dropping off two other women at about 2 p.m. when several men walked up to Bonner's truck and opened fire. In all, five or six shots were fired, one of which hit Bonner in the forearm, police said. Burton was being held in the South Central Regional Jail.
Anyone with information about the shooting or the identities of the other suspects is asked to call 911 or the Charleston Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division at 304-348-6480.
