Huntington's 150th events

The Cabell-Huntington Convention and Visitors Bureau has announced the following events will be held today as part of West Virginia's 150th Birthday celebration and the 200th birthday of the Village of Barboursville.

* New River Train Trip/Greenbrier: Amtrak, Huntington. Majestic New River Gorge to White Sulphur Springs, and return. Ride in vintage and historic railroad cars through the Grand Canyon of the East. Includes: continental breakfast on train, buffet lunch at The Greenbrier, time to shop, optional Bunker Tour (additional cost), and return by motorcoach with stop at Tamarack. Cost is $249. * WV Senior Sports Classic : Huntington. Registration from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at St. Mary's Education Center. * Lee Greenwood/200th Anniversary Concert: 7:30 p.m., Barboursville Park Amphitheatre, Barboursville. Tickets are $5 and are available at Barboursville City Hall or at the gate.

* Cabell County Public Library/Sesquicentennial Event: 2 p.m., Cabell County Public Library, 455 9th St., Huntington. Modern pop artist Michael Albert will conduct a collage workshop for children. Unique collages from recycled materials such as cereal boxes, old photographs, and discarded cardboard. The theme: "Greetings from West Virginia." Albert's historic and epic events posters such as: "The Declaration of Independence" and the "Gettysburg Address" will be on display at the Main Library prior to the workshop.
