Police seek Detroit man in heroin bust

By Staff reports

CROSS LANES, W.Va. -- A Detroit man dropped $40,000 in heroin after fleeing from an apartment in Cross Lanes on Friday, police said.

A warrant was issued for Ayric Mack Thomas, 23, for one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

On Friday, Kanawha County sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at an apartment on Becca Drive in Cross Lanes, Cpl. Brian Humphreys said in a news release.

Arriving deputies saw a man running from the scene and a woman at the apartment said she was involved in a disturbance. Deputies allegedly smelled marijuana in the apartment and conducted a safety search. They then found bags of marijuana and about $3,000 in cash, Humphreys said.

When deputies went to find the man, later identified as Thomas, they discovered he had dropped two bags containing about 100 grams of heroin.

Anyone with information about Thomas' whereabouts is asked to call the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department at 304-357-0169.
